Step 2 | Opportunities
A refresher on framing opportunities…
The process of translating insights into opportunities is about moving from the “current state” to envisioning future possibilities.
Opportunities are the springboard for brainstorming new ideas and solutions.
The Big Design Challenge has multiple sub-challenges derived from turning the insights into specific opportunity areas. Remember the Los Verdes example developed by ExperiencePoint® in the ExperienceInnovation™ simulation?
The Big Design Challenge:
How might we increase sustainable behavior among Los Verdes/ citizens?
Frame a specific opportunity:
How might we help the people of Los Verdes make more productive use of the things they no longer need?
The Insight:
People are motivated to re-use and recycle in order to help other people, not just by a desire to save the plant.

Step 1: Using insights from the previous exercise, create at least 3 “How Might We…” opportunities.
Step 2: As a team, discuss which HMW opportunity will be best to carry forward into Brainstorming. Choose 1 HMW and write it at the top of a flip chart piece of paper in preparation for brainstorming.
